How did you convert the sample photo to black and white? Is it in photoshop? Thanks

the sample photo was originally converted to black & white using photoshops photocopy feature. I then saved it in photoshop, and re-opened it in illustrator. Now in illustrator, I created a new layer and traced the black & white photocopy until it mimiced the original image.
